Aspectos Sociais, Econômicos e de Competitividade da Inovação Verde

Resumo

Objetivo: Este estudo tem como objetivo examinar o impacto da incorporação de práticas de inovação verde pelas empresas no desenvolvimento econômico (Produto Interno Bruto - PIB), social (Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano - IDH) e competitivo (Índice de Competitividade Global - ICG) dos Países Desenvolvidos (PD) e dos Países em Desenvolvimento (PED).

Método: Para a análise foi utilizado um modelo de regressão hierárquica em três níveis com medidas repetidas e estimadas por Máxima Verossimilhança a partir de uma amostra de 4.061 empresas de capital aberto, sendo 80% dos países do G7 e 20% dos BRICS.

Resultados: Os resultados mostraram que, em relação ao PIB, todos os indicadores de inovação verde influenciaram negativamente o desenvolvimento económico tanto nos PD como PED. No que diz respeito ao IDH, as práticas de inovação verde, como a gestão ambiental e os investimentos ambientais, influenciam positivamente o desenvolvimento social nos PED e nos PD, respetivamente. Quanto à competitividade, os resultados revelaram que apenas as práticas de inovação verde relacionadas com políticas ambientais apresentaram resultados estatisticamente significativos demonstrando uma relação negativa com o ICG tanto nos PD como nos PED.

Contribuições: A pesquisa oferece insights sobre estratégias potenciais para empresas e governos estabelecerem objetivos alinhados com os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Estes incluem o ODS-8, voltado para promover um crescimento econômico sustentável e inclusivo; o ODS-9, focado em promover a industrialização e inovação sustentáveis; e o ODS-10, enfatizando o fortalecimento e a revitalização de parcerias globais para o desenvolvimento sustentável.
